I'm a Computer Science Engineer from Universidad del
Norte, in Barranquilla, Colombia. I finished the B. Sc. in 2002 at
this university. Currently, I'm in my fourth year of the PhD program
under supervision of Dr
Ken Christensen. My research interests include Performance Evaluation
of Computer Networks, and Power Management for Networking end devices.
Also, I'm interested in software development and assessment.
News!!! I have my first video
on YouTube!!! please see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdAm4olcVoo.
It's about a project I'm working on. It consists on a system running
on a Linksys router that can enable IP phones to sleep for long periods
of time, and be woken up by a call directed to it. Given the amount
of IP phones currently in use, the power consumed by them and the
low true usage, this can lead to great energy and monetary savings,
and of course with its environmental impact.
If interested, a short version just with the demonstration can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXTr1wF6c-Y.
Some info about me: During my
studies, I've worked as Research Assistant for the CSE department
and I've been funded by NSF and during Fall 2008 and Spring 2009
I was funded by Cisco. I also worked teaching a class for my department.
I am currently working as T.A. and preparing my dissertation defense. I have over 3 years of experience as Software Engineer in my country,
where I
worked
with
Java, J2EE,
C, VB6, PHP,
ASP,
Html, and other programming languages. I came to USF sponsored
by Universidad
del Norte, where I'll work as a professor after finishing
my PhD program at USF. Besides
English for my PhD and Spanish as
my native language, I learnt
German in high school
education.
