Deviations from this outline will be announced in class and will also be
posted on the updates page. The reading assignments
are all from the text, unless otherwise noted. A team status
report is due each Friday by 5pm.
Week #1 (08/23/09) - Introduction and kick-off
- Lecture: Course kick-off. Discussion of ground rules, expectations, and
grading. Sign-up for projects. Discussion on writing a requirements document.
Overview of development process.

Week #2 (08/30/09) - Development process
- Lecture: Discussion on project management, project planning, and teamwork.
Completing status reports. Developing the project specification and
traceability to requirements. Conducting a peer design review. The importance
of standards.

Week #3 (09/06/09) - Development process (continued)
- Lecture: Developing the test plan. Writing user documentation. Preparing
a poster and press release. Preparing a resume.

Week #4 (09/13/09) - In class work day
- Lecture: Wrap-up any unfinished topics and then a workday where all
groups will be met with

- Events: Students present designs in class for a peer design review

- Events: No class - practice presentations. Mini-exam to
be turned-in no later than 9:40am on Wednesday to Dr. Christensen's office.
- Deliverables: Practice project presentation and
demonstration by 5pm on Wednesday (11/25/09). Will need to schedule a
30-minute time with Dr. Christensen for this short week.
Week #15 (11/29/09) - Final deliverables for grading
- Lecture: None
- Reading: None
- Events: No class - your project ships for final grading
- Deliverables: Presentation, demonstration, and delivery
of project in-class in Wednesday (12/02/09) to Dr.Christensen. All final deliverables
are due to Dr. Christensen at this time.
Week #16 (12/06/09) - Final deliverables to your company
- Lecture: None
- Reading: None
- Events: No class - Your project ships to the company
- Deliverables: Presentation, demonstration, and delivery
of project by 5pm on Friday (12/11/09) to your company. All final deliverables
are due to your company at this time.
