Assignment #4 for Computer Networks (Fall 2003) ----------------------------------------------- Problems #1 through #3 challenge your ability to write and introduce you to the USF library. You must go to the library. You may not just download a paper. Problem #1 - You are to write the abstract for the paper available at http://www.csee.usf.edu/~christen/class1/hidden/icc04x.zip. Your abstract may not exceed 175 words. Problem #2 - Write *your* bio following the IEEE-CS style. First, you must find the IEEE-CS style guide (hint: google). Problem #3 - You are to find an "interesting" (to you) paper from ICC, GLOBECOM, or INFOCOM in the "hardcopy" library. You are to photocopy the paper (which you will submit as part of this assignment). For this paper, summarize the problem, solution (or "method"), and evaluation of solution. Your summarization should be less than one page. Problem #4 - You have a channel with capacity 10 and 4 nodes demanding 1, 2, 3, and 5 units of channel bandwidth, respectively. Give a max-min fair allocation of the channel capacity to the four nodes. Problem #5 - Solve problem #1 from Kurose and Ross (page 408) Problem #6 - Solve problem #3 from Kurose and Ross (page 409). Problem #7 - Explain why an IP router does not change the address files in the IP header, but does change address fields in the LAN header. If the address fields in the LAN header are changed, must a new TCP checksum be computed? Explain your answer. ---
